If you have issues with spiders, imagine how they feel about us - we are these giant monsters that are bent on destroying them and their homes, but hey – they’re just doing their thing. September is not a good time for those with arachnophobia. Spiders are out and about and are looking for love. While summer is winding down, spiders are gearing up. They have mating on their minds and they are weaving their webs everywhere. Males are in search for that perfect mate, but they have to get on with it as the subsequent eggs have to be laid before winter approaches. Despite the fear they evoke in many people, spiders are a necessity as they eat lots and lots of insects. That’s their job and they do it very well. Not only are they insect eating machines, their webs are highly touted by hummingbirds as their silken fibres are used to make their wee nests. There is no need to love or even like spiders, but give them a break as they are protecting your plants from other bugs. And they are kinda neat looking too - as long as they are not crawling on me when I'm in bed... argh... I just hate that!  A spider in their web lookin' for love or for prey...
